Global news 20 December 2018

The The Board of the Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (DHCRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Victor Pantano as the DHCRC’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Dr Pantano will join the DHCRC from the University of Canberra (UC), where he is currently Associate Vice President – Innovation and Strategy, responsible for identifying, developing and negotiating strategic growth opportunities for UC. This has included working to support the growth of UC’s health faculty, together with its state-of-the-art health precinct. He brings a wealth of experience in business development, commercialisation and venture capital investment, underpinned by the creation of collaborations between universities and industry. Over the course of his career, Dr Pantano has raised hundreds of millions of dollars across a variety of technologies and in a broad range of fields.

The Chair of the DHCRC Board, Emeritus Professor Mary O'Kane AC, welcomed Dr Pantano to the DHCRC saying, “This is an exciting new chapter for the DHCRC. Victor brings an excellent background in higher education, CRCs, business development and the leadership of two highly successful spin-off companies, including one from a CRC and the other from ANU and UNSW. The Board and staff of the DHCRC are looking forward to progressing the goals of the CRC with him.”

Dr Pantano will commence as CEO on 7 February, 2019.

The Board expressed its appreciation of outgoing CEO, David Jonas, for his work in establishing the CRC.
